GRADING SCALES & WEIGHTING:

The sixth grade language arts grade is comprised from several categories; Reading Comprehension, Writing, Grammar, Vocabulary, and Speaking & Listening.  These categories are predetermined and weighted by Lincoln Public Schools.

Each category is also divided into either a summative or a formative grade.  When viewing grades on Synergy, it is important to recognize that the overall grade is tabulated using a weighting of 80% for summative scores and 20% for formative scores.  Summative scores are received on assessments and projects that students have completed independently after much classroom practice, instruction, and feedback have been provided.  Formative scores are received on practice work, both in and out of class.  Below you can view the weighted categories as well as the grading scales that are used.
